Late Night CerealShe texted me to ask for milk,
A query so surreal,
For she was of the hungry ilk
Who craved for cereal.
Alas, I had no milk but soy,
Which she was wary to deploy
Within her bowl,
Within her bowl,
Her face showed she did not taste joy.
Oh Special K! 'Twas not the day
She meant for you to swim
With Mister Two-Percent, and play
Your tasty games with him.
The box was done, your final breath
Could only end in runny death.
A soggy grave was all she left.
All times, both good and bad, must end
In peacefulness or pain.
One moment, by your side a friend,
The next, gone and estranged.
While we still live, let's take control,
Together, let's live to the full
Like milk and flakes,
Like milk and flakes,
Creamy, crunchy in the bowl.
Sunrise ViewEvery eclipse a double dawn,
I rise from rest to gladly gaze upon
Your usual sweet slumber,
Coyly curled. I watch in wonder.
You're lovely, dewdrop clad,
And made for me. A lass, a lad,
A stirring story born in bed.
The SilenceWe walked alone,
Standing together in silence.
Hand in hand,
Shifting our feet,
A delicate waltz.
We tripped in fall,
And summer's temperance
Gave into winter's
And coolly letting go.
We talked alone,
Bearing the lovers' silence.
Sunny one day,
Rainy the next,
Like rushing waves
Or flickering flames,
The situation changed
Since everything stayed still
And all the same,
Yet different for some.
From high school love
To low and foolish apathy:
Nine months we gave,
It took one day.
Trouble's a-Bruin"What's the difference between a stingray
And a student from UCLA?"
One lives in the mud,
Sucking water and crud,
And the other's a fish in the bay.
Letter to the FiveTo five of you whose travels crossed with mine:
I miss you with a brother's love that time
Could hardly wear away. Though half a year
Has passed, I took from Paul and held you dear
In interceding often for your faith.
I trust both peace and growth have taken place
As proof of faithfulness: He heard my plea
And gave you grace far more than we can see.
I write this to you now as I have prayed,
Convicted by the Spirit, I was swayed
To give you words to take into your heart,
Two exhortations I should now impart.
The first, to seek to prove your faith is real
And genuine, to never lag in zeal.
In trials and in living day to day,
Prioritize his straight and narrow way.
Please recognize that those He holds in love
He (all the more) will strive to truly prove
A faithful heart, a humble, forthright soul.
Adding to his mind is not the goal,
(For what is there the Father does not know
Or darkness that His light could never show?)
But realize the proof's for us, we're thick
At times, forgetting th
Unseen, but not UnknownO, you whose arms I have not yet embraced
But long for in my dreams both day and night,
I will not let your bated breath go waste
Nor keep the blinding lamp trained your sight.
I will not let confusion guide your steps
And shifting sands give way beneath your heels.
Though all the paths may lead into the depths,
All possibilities to long ordeals,
The darkest shadows by the light were born,
The lowest dips must peak along the way.
Let not your face be anymore forlorn,
But smile, O you daughter of the day,
And place your hope in him whose outstretched hand
Will make us stand in all that he has planned.
SSpeak His praise, for change is here,
See the love that casts out fear.
Send the news of freedom near
Swiftly that the nations hear.
Sweetly let the Gospel sing
Salvation in the bells that ring
Stories far too great for chance:
Scenes of light and God's romance.
Waking WildfiresThose nights I cannot help but ponder deep
Into the mysteries within my heart:
My innermost desires. Postponing sleep,
I wake from watchfulness, and now He starts.
For in my mind my inner watchmen know
Far more than daytime wand'rers ever could
How jealously that Spirit in me blows
His wind of transformation. I am wood,
And he is wind, and all I ask is flame.
All I ask for is that spark to light
Your warm, consuming grace. Reveal your name
And rend to ash that once was rent by blight.
Let gardens spring up from this deadened earth,
Where fire made fallow, let there be rebirth.
Chasing GraceNo action will turn out a wind-grasping chase
If it lives in the light of His powerful grace,
For the humdrum of life might seem base vanity
When we lose line of sight with the Lord's majesty;
Sufficient his mercies, and brimming his peace,
His soul-lighting presence shall ever increase.
Take my hand, fellow child and co-heir with Christ,
Let us leap for the cloud and rise up for the sky;
His goodness around us will safeguard us 'til
Every promise He faithfully comes to fulfill.
BloodBreathe in deep and hold your ground,
take the quiet – there is no sound.
Choke the clatter and let it drown,
breathe in deep and hold it there,
and know your feelings come unbound.
It washes with you like a flood,
brings you up on ghostly wings!
Your heart, it beats to the Gallow-God’s drum,
your mind it flies in the blackest eye.
Scream a scream of health and kenning,
your soul shakes in your chest and coos to be free.
You are the world in which you live,
the soul in which gods breathe their first and last,
you are the ship in which the times have sailed,
and you are the barrow in which Wyrd makes merry.
See the flesh upon your bone,
like Sky stretched over Earth,
feel the blood beneath the sheath.
Lines like rivers throb within pale skin,
and below your ground there runs the reddening stream.
Life laughs within you,
for you are your yesterdays,
and you are your morrows,
the lie is in the now
for the Norn’s thread is ever spinning,
and you with it are carried like t
DFC 6: Lost and FoundHold firm,
To the belief,
That you shall be saved,
Then bear witness to tragedies,
Its warm caress,
Covet its touch and know
Total strength and dire weakness,
Is all you know,
Let it hold you closely,
Chilling your bones. Your fingertips
Is not the same
As faith in a world,
Both separate and all amongst us,
In the notions
Of this amazing world,
The Universe will embrace you,

Vi entonces, una pequeña luz a lo lejos
Corrí y corrí hacia ella lleno de esperanzas
Tropecé hartas veces en suelos disparejos
Me decía en mi mente; persevera y alcanza
Aunque esa luz siquiera distante a mis ojos.
Flotando ahí encontré una terrible decepción;
Ni faro, ni fuego, era luz en el espacio.

DFC 5: The Slow Decline of InnocenceThese thoughts are looping through my mind,
No answers can they seek,
For problems of the mental kind,
Leave me battered – weak!
A moment’s breath can bear no peace,
There is no sudden strong release,
A moment’s breath,
A moment’s breath,
The madness in me will not cease!
Dare not to clutch at fairy tales,
They always end in tears,
True love in stories always fails,
As people grasp at fears,
No one can see the pain that seeps,
Where consciousness gives way to sleep,
No one can see,
No one can see,
Cacophonies a person weeps.
‘Where do nightmares hide?’, they say,
In places blackened – dead!
Where hope and faith are miles away,
These demons rest their head,
No need to cry, young child of mine,
Your life is safe; you will be fine,
No need to cry,
No need to cry,
For on thine purity we’ll dine.
QQuestion not his goodness, o my son,
Quiet your soul, bring wisdom to your tongue.
Quicken your steps to follow what is right,
Quit the path of those who prowl by night.
Quarrel not, but mercy you shall love,
Quote the word from high above.
Quarries and mines could hold no greater worth,
Queens and kings will bow for wisdom's birth.
