Literature Text

I want to dance as David danced before,
With all my might, without my dignity,
Abandoned to the presence of the Lord
And lost in all His joy's infinity.
I want to fight as David fought before,
To cry out in the heat of battlefields
In danger's midst, for God has won the war
In glorious fashion with the sword he wields.
I want to sing as David sang before,
So Spirit-filled that demons could not stay
Within the hardest heart. His songs restore
My soul, though centuries have gone and passed away.
I want to have the heart that David had,
The chosen heart that made his Father glad.
I'm doing a character study on David right now through 1 and 2 Samuel, and I think I'm just really finding out how complicated of a character he really is. It's amazing that such a flawed human could still be a man after God's own heart. God's grace is too crazy!
