Literature Text

There is no shade along this path we run
To chase the rising of the summer sun,
And nighttime, with its brooding heat, provides
No respite on these steep-stepped mountainsides.
There's much to worry over day by day
And never quite the strength to make headway
Beyond the stopgap grasp of bottlenecks
That block our vantage point to what comes next.
These sufferings prolonged are trials deep
But rich in meaning, never cruel nor cheap.
Day 14 of NaPoWriMo.

A simple little 10-liner. Our trials, tribulations, and sufferings are never wasted.

"For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings." —Hebrews 2:10

You know - I like it all, but - those first two lines are just magical. I don't want to stop reading them. I feel like those could spawn a thousand poems, or stand alone, full of optimism, adventure, and warmth. The blocking vantage point is also really well placed and phrased.

The reversed stresses in "headway" were a little jarring for me, but not overly so.
