Here it comes!
The loud and roaring sound
That brought conception to the mountains,
Dust unto the ground.

Hear that voice!
It separates the skies
And lifts the clouds up where
They're fit to rise.

Here it comes! (Hear that voice!)
The spirit of the Earth (The vital air of sky)
Now links together in a
Cry of worth!

Hear that voice! (Here it comes!)
The flow of waters deep (The song of angels fair)
Now links together in a
Careful sleep.

When God had finished fixing up the firmament's foundations,
What was his first assessment of His careful new creations?
When God had set up storehouses of slush and sleet and snow,
How much did he anticipate the icy winter show?

A swishing here, a swishing there,
A swishing little zephyr passes over hill and dale.
A splashing here, a splashing there,
A splashing torrent on the new land carves a lovely trail.

When God had gilt each galaxy with glimmers, glows and glints,
Were they so small that even he would have to see with squints?
When God had made the moon into the mirror for the sun,
Did he look back approvingly, to compliment the Son?

Now roots and shoots, and stems and leaves,
The trunks and flowers, grass and ferns,
And boughs and cones of trees.
Now germinate, spring from the ground,
And freely sow your spore and seed
That life may soon abound.

And God stepped back to watch the blossoms of the photosynthetes,
The pollen swirling round and round amidst a windy backbeat.
He smiled to watch the earth already busy multiplying,
To live and breed, and live again, without the fear of dying.

Here he moves!
And with him moves the beasts,
The roaming creatures of the garden,
Life sustained by heartbeats.

Hear that breath
Of motion in the realm!
This age of creatures
Will now take the helm.

The flyers and the swimmers and the dwellers of the land,
Now only one remains, the best for last, as they had planned.

But Behemoth, with looming loins,
Among the beasts is simply incomparable!
Leviathan, with its fearsome jaws,
Among the sea monsters, unsnarable!

"But this life shall be different by my crafting sovereignty,
I'll shape him in Imago Dei, like me, for me, by me.
He'll have a soul and spirit with his body corporeal
And with free will to love his God, he thinks, he lives, he feels."

Creative force
The Tree of Life
Must take its course
The Knowing Tree
Love unceasing, none deceasing, self-increasing, oh so pleasing,
Mold him from the dust and dirt:
Now breathe in life to give him birth!

It is good
I carve the rivers of the world to close this earthly garden
The work that I have done
The Eden that my angels circle as they stand their guard and
And now we rest together
Fill the air with rapturous praise to wake the slumbering man
Father, Spirit, Son

His eyes blink twice,
His chest now heaves,
He stirs a little on a pile of leaves.
He slowly sits,
Stands to his feet,
And as he rises the world turns complete.

Just one more thing before we set the man unto his calling,
For just as we are three a man alone may find it galling.
The woman that we form from bone and all of Adam’s dreaming
Will make with him one flesh and all their progeny proceeding.

So hand in hand the man and woman
Find their utmost joy and peace
In work and play and rest beneath
The watchful gaze that never sleeps,
The Lord of Lords and King of Kings,
Creator God of everything,
Who reigns and reigns and reigns in
TRIUNE
UNITY
This piece is the 150th poem I've put up on DA, and it's a piece I've been working on for about half a year now. The piece is meant to be closely read with Bizet's Farandole, as conducted by Mariss Jansons: [link] This means that some parts may follow the tune rather closely, and some parts are even meant to be read simultaneously!

The style is much more lyrical and free than what I have written before, enough to qualify it as a spoken word poem. The choice for me was to go with a style that encompasses both a simple, earthly style, but also an epic divinity that runs throughout the piece, signifying the Trinity communing not only with creation but in itself.

UPDATE (3/8/2013): Did a major revision to improve the flow and fix up some of the message in preparation for a writing conference.

I know I've read this before and commented, but since you reposted I reread, and once again I am struck by the scope of this work. It covers everything from simple facts of creation to its implications about God and its meaning to mankind. Theologically sound AND literarily stunning. That's good lit.
